The fishermen deliver and trade their freshly caught fish and seafood on the quay, and there are countless numbers of gulls arriving by the hundreds to feast on the leftovers all around the fish market!

A few kilometers from Essaouira, you will find cooperatives managed by women who work with the fruit of the argan tree to produce certified organic edible or cosmetic oil. This miraculous oil, prized by great chefs but also by cosmetic laboratories, provides an income for Berber women and their families.

A new generation water sport, kitesurfing in Essaouira has increased its fans in recent years. In Morocco, the Essaouira region has become the flagship destination for “airborne board” enthusiasts (as they say in French). The city also hosts a stage of the Kitesurfing World Cup (KPWT). Its very active clubs train children from the region, some of whom are destined to become real champions.
A big trend at the moment, wingfoil is a variation of kitesurfing, windsurfing, funboarding or stand-up paddleboarding. Standing on a board, the surfer holds a wing in his hand which he places in the wind. Come and discover this new sport!
